Inplants

implantes Dra. Susana Malagrida

We work with two of the best implants out there today. Its strength and stability are supported by scientific studies.

In our dental clinic we study each case in a personalized way to recommend the best option.

The dental implant is a piece of titanium, similar to a screw, that we put in the bone and in the place where we have lost a tooth or tooth.

This screw has a double thread: an external one that adheres to the bone and an internal one where we will screw an abutment or stump that will serve as the basis for the new ceramic crown.

Our 3D technology in radiological study, allows us to plan exactly where we are going to place the implant before surgery, in addition our advanced techniques help us to make the placement more reliable, quick and painless. It is proven that, with more precision, more durability and less postoperative discomfort.

What are the advantages of placing an implant?

When placing an implant we are replacing the lost piece without damaging the neighboring teeth as would happen if we put a bridge.

The bone in that area will not lose either in volume or density, if we wait a long time between the loss of the tooth and the placement of the implant, a bone regeneration may be necessary prior to implant surgery.

They fulfill the chewing function allowing them to be used with a sensation almost identical to natural teeth.

In addition, it is the most aesthetic option since they replace lost teeth in a fixed and permanent way.

What are the steps and time for implant placement?

In a first visit, we assess the quality of the bone receiving the implant through the radiological study. The 3D technology of our dental clinic allows us to offer you, in a minimally invasive way, the placement of multiple implants in a very short time. In this way we can perfectly plan the surgery and the implant placement. The precision is exact and highly millimeter.

The surgery we perform is very delicate, without the need to suture the gum. The intervention is quick, it does not usually last more than half an hour. It is performed under local anesthesia, and the implant is placed after a small incision in the gum.

Is putting an implant painful?

Definitely not. The surgery we perform is simpler and faster than it may seem, it all depends on the number of teeth to be replaced. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and is totally “traumatic”. After implant placement and when the anesthesia has worn off and in 99% of cases, our patients tell us that they have not felt any pain. There is also no inflammation since we do not damage the soft tissue at all, that is, the gum.

Will I be able to eat well after getting implants?

You will be able to eat almost the same as before placing the implants. Extra care should be taken, such as avoiding eating hard food in the intervened area.

How long do I have to wait for the crown or prosthesis to be placed on the implants?

You should wait between two or three months for the placement of the prosthesis. This period is very important since “osseointegration” is taking place, that is, the fusion or integration of the implant with the bone. If the area we are rehabilitating is aesthetic, we will place a provisional prosthesis. After this period, a stump is screwed onto the internal thread of the implant on which the permanent ceramic crown will be cemented.

CARE IN ORAL HYGIENE IN THIS PERIOD IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR THE SUCCESS OF OSEOINTEGRATION.

In our dental clinic we take care of every last aesthetic detail in the final finish of the prosthesis.

If I have to remove a tooth where an implant will be placed, how long should I wait?

The period that elapses between when a tooth is extracted and the implant is placed can vary from being able to place it in the same extraction session to waiting 2 months. It all depends on whether or not there is infection around the tooth to be extracted and the state of the recipient bone.

What special care do implants require?

The care that implants require is not complex, but it must be done correctly, specifically following the advice we give in our clinic.

In the implants cavities are not caused, but if tartar accumulates we will have a “peri-implantitis” which is similar to a “periodontitis” or pyorrhea which is what is caused in the teeth by the accumulation of tartar and consequently the stability of the implant is endangered . Therefore, it is very important to maintain correct oral hygiene by brushing our teeth after each meal and regularly going to our dental clinic where we will carry out an exhaustive control of the entire mouth.

If I get implants, will it look natural or will it show?

In our dental clinic we take care of every last aesthetic detail in the final finish of the prosthesis. We work together with the laboratory in the different phases of the manufacture of the prosthesis and carry out the necessary tests until obtaining an excellent and invaluable result before others.

In the case of rehabilitation with ceramic crowns on implants, in our clinic we have a scanner and a CEREC 3D milling machine where we design and make the ceramic crown that will go on the implant in 15 minutes.

This means that the final tooth will be left with the color, shape and size necessary to restore aesthetics and functionality.

How much does a dental implant cost? What is the price of a dental implant?

The answer depends on several factors. First, keep in mind that implants are a long-term investment. This means that a quality implant, such as those we offer in our dental clinic, can last a lifetime if the indicated maintenance is followed. It is a savings in every rule, since this treatment is cheaper than others of lower quality that have to be repaired or replaced in a shorter period of time.

In our clinic we use 2 of the best implants on the world market, with quality controls and certificates that we deliver to the patient once they are in place. This is linked to the experience of more than 30 years in implantology, the training and degrees of Dr. Malagrida.
